Today we visit with one of my own characters. Eulalie Miller, the eldest of four siblings, shares her story with us. She is one of the heroines in The Miller Brides, the fourth book in the Texas Brides of Pike's Run series.

In this historical romance, three spinster sisters find their inner courage and grab life with both hands!

Where do you live and why?
I live in Pike's Run, Texas. My brother needed help with his general store, so my sisters and I headed west.

What is your profession and do you enjoy it?
I help my brother run his general store, and it keeps my busy. I like to stay active.

How would others describe you? Are they accurate?
Well, who I used to be caused a lot of problems for me and my sisters. You see...I was jilted, and it made me fearful and distrusting. I thought I was a leader and a protector, and while I was those things, in truth I was protecting myself more than my sisters. Now, however, I'm much more carefree, though I still insist on an organized life. There's no reason to become too loosey-goosey.

When you met Richard Morrison was it love at first sight?
No. But I could tell he was a kind man. We formed a friendship rather quickly.

Was it love at first sight for Richard?
No. And he tells me when he began to have feelings for me, he tried to fight them. He was afraid of falling in love.

What do you like most about Richard?
He is gentle, kind and trustworthy. He loves me as I am.

What does he like most about you?
He tells me it's how loyal I am. He often comments that when I make a friend, I have a friend for life.

If you could travel anywhere where would you go?
Oh, goodness. I think I would like to see the Grand Canyon. All that beauty and vastness. I bet being there would make me feel closer to God.

What’s one thing you learned from your personal love story?
Fear is crippling. Being vulnerable, depending on others, is not a weakness. You have to learn to trust others and, most importantly, yourself. If you don't, life will pass you by when you aren't looking.

Oh, Eulalie. How right you are. Fear can grab hold of someone and squeeze the confidence right out of them. Most poor decisions come from being afraid.

After Eulalie Miller was left at the altar, her younger sisters, Susannah and Lucy, pledge to never forsake her, not suspecting the vow would label them "Spinster Sisters". Neither did they realize Eulalie would become so formidable, the male population would be too scared to darken their doorstep.

But, while Eulalie makes it her mission to protect her sisters from men, she can't stop Brady Callahan, the saloon owner, from turning Susannah's head. Nor can she keep Harold Dawson, recently widowed, from stealing Lucy's heart. And when Richard Morrison comes calling for Eulalie, expecting courtship, marriage, and her love, Eulalie’s world is turned on its axis.

As the "Spinster Sisters" tumble into romance, the people of Pikes Run might have to seek a new title for them. One of distinction and hope…
